George Spendlove (1847-1928)

George Spendlove (aprox 40 years old) George Spendlove was 13 when he arrived in Australia with his parents George & Mary (Elmes) Spendlove and older sister Julia. George and Mary left a life of hardship in Derbyshire to make the voyage to their new homeland. The Spendlove family settled in Geelong where a lot of their decendents still live. George Spendlove Senior was a tailor.
George married Jane Anderson in 1868 George married Jane Anderson in 1868 at Geelong they had 12 children. George was a house painter.

  • George Spendlove son Harold outside Saffron Street George Spendlove and his family lived in Saffron Street, Chilwell.

    The house was eventualy demolished as it was leaning into Saffron Street. Sarah Spendlove nee Harvey wife of Charles carted peices away in drays, these peices became ballast which was used in a sailing ship.
